Annapūrṇāṣṭakam

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps us with benevolence and support, Who removes fear with boon and bliss, Who showers beauty and gems, Who purifies the heavily harassed and tormented one, Who is Māheśvarī in the front of our eyes, and Who purified the lineage of Mountain Himālaya — gives me food as alms.||1||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who endows various jewels and precious stones, Whose apparel is a white cloth, Who has breast-pots which are adorned by a long shining necklace of pearl, Who is scented in the woods of Kāśmīra, and Who endows interest — gives me food as alms.||2||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who endows the bliss of Yoga, Who endows the ill-health of enemy, Who endows interest in Dharma and Artha, Who has resplendence like the waves of the sun, the moon and the fire, Who protects the world, and Who endows all the desired worldly wishes — gives me food as alms.||3||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who makes the caves on the Mount Kailāśa as Her abode, Who is Gaurī, Umā, Śańkarī and Kaumārī, Who sheds light on the meaning of treatises, Who is the root-syllable of OM, and Who splits the door of mokṣa — gives me food as alms.||4||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who bears the existence of the seen and the unseen, Who stores the pot like universe in Her stomach, Who destroys the plot of sportive play (of the Ātman), Who blooms forth by the metaphysical sciences, and Who causes happiness to the mind of the Lord of the universe (Śiva) — gives me food as alms.||5||

Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who is the earth, Who is ruler of all the humans, Who is the Goddess, Who is the Mother, Who fulfils our diet-needs, Who has a headress on cloud-like black braid of hairs, Who gives alms of food continuously, Who provides bliss to everyone, and Who always causes auspicion — give me alms.||6||

Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who describes everything from the beginning to the end, Who takes Śambhu into the three states, Who is the Goddess of Kāśmīra, Who is the ruler of the three worlds, Who is like the three waves, Who is the immortal sprout for the world, Who is present in every woman, Who incites the feeling of desire, and Who causes the rise of persons — give me alms.||7||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who is the Goddess, Who is adorned with various variegated precious stones, Who is the daughter of Dakṣa, Who is beautiful, Who has tasty porridge on Her left side, Who causes happiness, Who bestows good fate on everyone, Who grants the wish of the devotee, and Who is always auspicion causing — give me alms.||8||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who is comparable to millions and millions of sun, moon and fire, Who holds the dewdrop reflections of moon on Her face, Who has ear-hoops resembling the sun, the moon and the fire, Who has a complexion of the sun and the moon [a mix], and Who holds a garland, a book, a whip, and a stick — give me alms.||9||

May Mother — Who is known as Annapūrṇā, Who is the ruler of Kāśī, Who helps with benevolence and support, Who absolves the warriors, Who causes immenses fearlessness, Who is the Divine Mother, Who is the ocean of compassion, Who liberates a soul right away, Who always causes auspicion. Who is the Ruler of the universe, Who possesses wealth, Who caused Dakṣa to cry, and Who causes dispassion — give me alms.||10||

O Annapūrnā, Who is always complete, Who is the dear one of Śańkara! O Pārvatī! Give me alms for the purpose of knowledge, renunciation, and attainment of perfection. My mother is Pārvatī, my father is Maheśvara (Śiva), my friends are the devotees of Śiva, and my motherland is the universe.||11||
