Gaṇeśāṣṭakam

That Who is in infinite life forms due to infinite power, that Who is immeasurable due to formless nature, that Who is all the qualities, that Who shines forth as every manifestation assuming three different qualities of sattva, rajas and tamas — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||1||

That Who is evidently present as this whole world, and Who sits on the lotus, Who is the light of the world and Who protects the world, and Who manifests as Indra, other demi-gods and humans — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||2||

That Who manifests as the fire, the Sun, the universe, the Earth and the water, that Who manifests as the oceans, the Moon, the sky and the wind, that Who manifests as the stationary or the in-motion world and the trees — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||3||

That Who manifests as the demons, the human-like living-beings and the group of apparitions, that Who manifests as the celestial bards, the elephants the dogs, that Who manifests as the birds, the insects and the creepers — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||4||

That Who is the ignorance-suppressor wisdom of knowledge seekers, that Who is the treasure of satisfied devotee, that Who is the suppressor of obstacles, that Who accomplishes any goals for us — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||5||

That Who is the treasure of having a son, that Who is the desired wealth, that Who is the obstacle for non-believers and Who manifests in many forms, that Who is grief and passion, that Who is desire as well — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||6||

That Who has immeasurable strength, that Who manifests as the rest of things (not discussed so far), that Who is mighty in holding the earth and appearing as many manifestations, that Who is mighty, that Who makes many heavens in many ways — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||7||

That Who is words of Veda, that Who is the mental thoughts, that Who is always described as ‘‘Not this’’ by those words of Veda, that Who is Parabrahma and roaming in eternal bliss — we extol and bow to that Gaṇeśa.||8||
