Eulogy on Krishna

Sing praises of the Lord of Yadu, Krishna, along with Kamala (Lakshmi), Who is like the noise of forest-drums for the rabbit like fool, Who is like a mighty elephant for the dense tree of sins, and Who is like the best horse for the chariot like qualities of mercy and righteousness.||1||

[Sing praises of Krishna], Who is like a bumble-bee for the lotus like mind of Shiv, Who is like a snake for the king-mouse like malice of Kaliyug, Who is like a playful deer for the doe-like Lakshmi, and Who is like a huge bird for the mosquito like demon.||2||

[Sing praises of Krishna], Who is like the peak of mountain like epics and treatises, Who is like the peak of mountain like sport and Maya, Who is like a sun for the lotus like group of Vairagin (detached persons), and Who is like a gigantic sea-wave for the crocodile like malice.||3||

[Sing praises of Krishna], Who is like the doomsday for the world-like fear of the cycle of life and death, Who is like the fragrant breeze of Mountain Malaya for the odor like malice of Kalyuga, Who is the abode of qualities, happiness, sense-organs and life, and Who is like a garland of blue lotus for the lake like Sattva (eternally good quality).||4||

[Sing praises of Krishna], Who is like the slayer of the demon Madhu like intoxications generated by desire, Who is like the Brahman offering a sacrifice (Yagya) for the king like Maya (in other words, Who glorifies the presence of Maya in the world), Who is like a conqueror for the army like qualities of fallibility and stupidity, and Who is like a donor for the beggar like group of gentlemen.||5||

[Sing praises of Krishna], Who is like the wealth for the poor like Vrindavan, Who is like the moon for a stars-like group of Gopi (cow rearers), Who is like a Garuda (Suparna) for the snake like difficulties, and Who is like gold for the beggar like society of saints.||6||

I bow to Krishna, Who is like a cloud for the water like knowledge of Veda, and Who is like a newly blooming Jasmine for the garden like Vrindavan. O the One, Who is eternal, Who is the abode of happiness, Who is the absolver of universe, Who is beautiful! Think [something] about me (or, cast a glance of mercy on me).||7||

O the One, Who is my friend, Who is the abode of mercy, Who is eternal, Who is the only one, Who is the abode of light, Who nourishes the whole universe! Nourish me. O Vishnu, Who liberates the universe! Liberate me. Take away my sorrows and the malice generated by sins.||8||
