Śivanāmāvalyaṣṭakam

O Śambhu, Who has a crest-moon, Who is the destroyer of Madana (Kāmadeva), Who holds a trident in His hand, Who is static, Who is revered by the mountain king Himālaya, Who is the Lord of Girijā (Pārvatī), Who is the supreme Lord, Who is the Lord of everything living, Who destroys the fears of the bereaved, and Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[1]

O Rudra, Who is dear to Pārvatī, Who has moon on the forehead, Who is the leader of ghosts, Who is the Lord of tormentors, Who is chanted by Himālaya, Who is Vāmadeva (a form of Śiva), Who destroys the universe at the end of Kalpa, Who holds the bow Pināka, and Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[2]

O Paśupati, Who has a blue throat, Who has a bull on His flag, Who has five-faces in one of the forms, Who is the Lord of the world, Who wears a bracelet of snake, Who is the leader of tormentors, Who is Śarva (name of Rudra), Who has locks of tresses, Who is the consort of daughter of Himālaya (Pārvatī), Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[3]

O Śiva, Who is the Lord of this world, Who has auspicion in hands (Śaṅkara), Who is revered by demi-gods, Who has Gaṅgā flowing in His tresses, Who is the leader of tormentors, Who is the Lord of Nandī and Bāṇāsura, Who is the enemy of Andhakāsura, Who absolves, Who is Lord of every world, and Who is Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[4]

O King of Vārāṇasī city, Who is the Lord of Maṇikarṇikā, Who is superior to every warrior, Who destroyed the sacrifice of Dakṣa, Who is powerful, Who rules over Gaṇa (tormentors), Who knows everything, Who dwells inside everyone’s heart, and Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[5]

O You, Who is the honorary One, Who is benevolent, Who is merciful, Whose hairs are like the sky (in all directions), Who has a blue-throat, Who is the supreme leader of Gaṇa, Who smears ashes on His body, Who has a garland of skulls, and Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[6]

O Mṛtyuñjaya, Who lives on Mt. Kailāsa, Who is Vṛṣākapi (one of the eleven Rudra), Who has three-eyes, Who pervades in all the three-worlds, Who is dear to Nārāyaṇa, Who slays pride, Who is the Lord of Śakti, and Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[7]

O Viśvanātha, Who is the Lord of the world, Who destroys metempsychosis, Who is all pervading, Who is the soul, Who is the only storehouse of worldly-qualities, Who is compassionate, Who is friend of the meek, and Who is the Lord of the universe! Save me from the dense miseries of this world.[8]

Salutations for Śiva, Who is the happiness and exuberance of Gaurī (Pārvatī), Who is Maheśvara, Who has five-faces, Who is like a Kalpa-tree for refugees, Who is Śarva, Who rules the world, and Who destroys unhappiness and poverty.[9]
