Dāridryadahanaśivastotram

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who absolves the ocean-like hell, Whose name is like nectar to ears, Who beholds a crest-jewel of moon, Who is white like a shining camphor, and Who is adorned by tress-locks.[1]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who is the dear one of Gaurī, Who beholds the artistry of moon, Who is the destroyer of Kāla (at the end of the universe), Who has a snake as His bracelet, Who has the river Gaṅga at His forehead, and Who slayed the elephant.[2]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who is liked by devotion, Who destroys the fear of metempsychosis, Who is grand, Who absolves the ocean-like cycle of rebirth, Who is full of resplendence, and Who dances with all the qualities (sattva etc.).[3]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who is adorned in a leather-cloth, Who has ashes smeared over His body, Who has an eye at the forehead, Who is adorned with jewel-studded earring, Who has anklets in both the feet, and Who is adorned by tress-locks.[4]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who has five-heads (in one of the forms), Who is adorned with a garland of snakes, Who is adorned with a white-cloth, Who adorns all the three-worlds, Who blesses us with the boon of happiness, and Who is full of dark-activities.[5]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who is dear to Bhānu (Sūrya), Who absolves the ocean-like cycle of rebirth, Who destroys Kāla (at the end of universe), Who is revered by lotus-seated Brahmā, Who has three eyes, and Who is associated with blissful qualities.[6]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who is dear to Rāma, Who gave boons to Rāma, Who is dear to Nāga (cobra or the race Nāga), Who absolves the ocean-like hell, Who enriches blissful deeds by adding bliss, and Who is worshipped by natural forces.[7]

Salutations for Śiva, Who destroys impoverishment and grief, Who is free from everything, Who bestows the fruits (of Karma) to us, Who is the leader of the Gaṇa, Who loves the songs, Who rides on the best among bulls (Nandī), Who wears an elephant skin, and Who is known as Maheśvara.[8]

Those who daily study this eulogy written by Vasiṣṭha — which destroys all the health-related problems, which brings wealth quickly, and which increments the lineage — indeed approach the heavens.[9]
